Frequently asked questions.
What are the first steps to set up care?
Let’s set up a meet + greet! If your dog will be attending camp, you will come here for the meet + greet. If you plan to have drop-in visits for your pet in your home, we will come to you for the meet + greet. These meetings generally last anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes to go over basic care instructions, make sure we are a good fit for one another, and answer any specific questions you have. Reach out today!
After the meet + greet how do I schedule care for my pet?
Email or text your requested dates and times, and we will confirm if we can provide the care you need. For the tech savvy, the portal can be used to request services. Currently we are a very small operation and cannot always say yes to every booking (though we sure do try). We recommend booking as early as possible and having a backup option in cases of emergency.
what is the portal?
We use a pet care specific software system called Time To Pet. After the meet + greet, we will email you a link to your portal account. From the portal, you can update personal information and pet details, view upcoming services scheduled for your pet, submit service requests, view and pay invoices, among many other things.
What is your service area?
Our service area is a 10 mile radius from our HQ in Veneta. For distances greater than 10 miles, we charge a small travel fee for each visit.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Life requires flexibility, and we try to be as flexible as possible. Cancel anytime before a visit with no repercussions. After we arrive and start a visit, you will be charged for the visit in full.
When And Where can I pay?
Easily pay online through the Time to Pet portal, or pay via cash, check, or Venmo. You can pay proactively or retroactively. If you have unpaid invoices, you will not be able to schedule future visits until you settle up.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, as a member of Pet Sitters International, we have a comprehensive insurance policy. If you have specific questions in regards to insurance, please ask.
What does a day at camp look like?
A day at camp is never the same, but we generally wake up with the sun, eat our meals, spend time in the yard, go for a pack walk, and take naps inside. For super high energy dogs, we may do more structured activities indoors or go for an additional run. We tailor camp to meet each dog’s physical and mental needs.
What should I pack for camp?
Food, food bowl, medications, supplements, collar/harness, and leash are all necessities. Optional items include: bedding, treats, brush/grooming tools, and crate. If you forget to pack anything, we can likely make due with supplies we have here. If you pack toys, we will use our best judgement to decide if/when it’s appropriate to give to your pet. Toys can get destroyed and/or become a source of guarding behavior, so often we will take toys away to preventatively avoid altercations.
Will there be other dogs at camp?
Short answer: It depends!
Long answer: Our goal at all times is to have balance among our pack. If we think your dog would be a good fit with other dogs, we will schedule both parties at the same time. If we are concerned about stress or aggression, we will avoid scheduling multiple parties together. For first-time campers, we prefer to have them here alone with our canine ambassador Mona to get to know their personality before adding other campers to the mix.
will you send picture updates?
Yes, this is one of my favorite parts of my job! For drop-in visits, I try to send an update with pictures shortly after I’ve completed the visit. For guests at camp, I try to send an update with pictures at least once a day. If you ever want more pictures of your dog, please reach out. If you want to see pictures of all the dogs we are currently caring for, follow us on Instagram!
what if my travel plans change or I’m running late to drop-off / Pickup?
Take a breath, and as always, travel safely. Let us know your updated travel plan and we’ll go from there. No hidden charges or fees for being late, but if your pet is with us an additional day or two, we will charge for the additional days they are here.
Do you have any health requirements for camp?
All visiting dogs must be free of communicable diseases. Some signs of communicable diseases in dogs include: coughing, sneezing, diarrhea, skin or ear infections, and malodor. If you are unsure about a concerning symptom, it’s best to see your veterinarian to get it checked out before coming to camp.
We have found fleas and ticks in our yard before, and while not required, we highly recommend treating your dog with a preventative before you arrive.
Rabies vaccinations are required by law in Oregon. We also accept annual titers from a licensed DVM. We highly recommend following the vaccine protocol that your veterinarian has outlined for you.
Can my intact dog come to camp?
We accept intact dogs one at a time. If we have an intact dog at camp, we will not book another intact dog, male or female, at the same time.
